SymphonyCare and Wisconsin Health Information Organization Achieve Qualified Entity Certification Status

MADISON, Wis., April  — Wisconsin Health Information Organization (WHIO) today announced that they achieved Qualified Entity (QE) status through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Qualified Entity Certification Program (QECP). SymphonyCare, the WHIO’s technical vendor and a data warehouse and analytics solution provider for healthcare organizations, completed the QECP technical requirement.

The CMS Qualified Entity Program (also known as the Medicare Data Sharing for Performance Measurement Program) enables organizations to receive Medicare Parts A and B medical claims data and Part D prescription drug claims data for use in evaluating provider performance. Organizations approved as QEs are required to use the Medicare data to produce and publicly disseminate CMS-approved reports on provider performance.

“When we selected SymphonyCare as our data partner to modernize our platform and analytics capabilities, we were confident that their commitment to patient privacy and data security would help us achieve QE certification in our new technical environment,” said Dana Richardson, CEO of WHIO. “Our data contributors and customers can be confident that we have the controls in place for privacy, security, confidentiality and processing of sensitive customer data.”

WellStackTM, the foundation of WHIO’s all-payer claims database, is SymphonyCare’s enterprise data warehouse that manages multiple data sources and provides a single source-of-truth to produce essential business intelligence on Wisconsin’s health care delivery system.

“QE certification means the WellStack platform successfully demonstrated it meets rigorous privacy and security regulations as well as industry-defined standards related to data integration,” said Sal Braico, COO of SymphonyCare. “We look forward to continuing to work with the WHIO to support important quality, safety and cost-efficiency reporting for the state of Wisconsin.”

Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, SymphonyCare is an innovative healthcare data management company that partners with organizations looking to improve data quality and efficiency of care. In addition to WellStackTM, SymphonyCare’s integrated applications include EmpowerTM, a patient/provider portal and engagement suite, NavigateTM, an award-winning population management suite and MedBeaconTM, a full medication management suite. Together, these comprehensive sets of tools enable organizations to improve patient engagement and care quality in addition to clinical, financial and operational outcomes.
